Erratum of the Day: On July 17, 1969, a day following the launch of Apollo 11 from the Kennedy Space Center, The New York Times issued a retraction of an article printed 49 years earlier, which ridiculed Prof. Robert H. Goddard, a pioneer in the field of rocketry, for claiming that space flight was possible.

Other than the end of the memorial where there was a spotlight on an empty mic stand and I legitimately thought there was a 50/50 chance Michael was going to pop out of the casket and perform, this was the best part of the show.

Never Before Seen Footage of the Day: Terrifying behind-the-scenes video from the infamous 1984 Pepsi commercial shoot, during which Michael Jackson’s hair caught on fire, was released today by Us Magazine.

Us explains the significance of this tragic accident:

To relieve the second and third-degree burns on his scalp and body (and later to help him tolerate multiple surgeries on the scorched spot on his head), Jackson was prescribed several medications — which kicked off his addiction to painkillers and obsession with plastic surgery, multiple sources tell Us.

The demo version of “Billie Jean”. I think this is a true testament to Mike’s musical genius. This was the version that was played to Quincy Jones. Quincy spiced it up a bit, but not by much.

How did this even begin to start?
How do these guys know so many dance moves?
Were they aware that the homeplate Big East camera was filming this the entire time?
Why is this the first time I’ve ever seen the pants in the arms, shirt on the legs handstand dance? Absolutely amazing!
The group dance at 2:45 mark is great comedy. Golf clap indeed.
How do so many guys on USF know how to get their Michael Flatley on?

All in all, a great—albeit long—video for the Memorial Day weekend. A hat tip to the UConn & USF baseball teams. Well done.
